Photography session information, sharing and event photos and tips!
Maia and I shot at the Ames Center in Burnsville last week on a perfectly cloudy day! Which makes for the most beautiful natural portrait light. This fun area has a lot of great back drop options, and shouldn't be avoided simply because it is usually quite busy! This is one of my favorite outdoor locations south of the river, along with Murphy's Landing in Shakopee. Neither of which require a permit prior to photographing which is great for keeping location costs low! There is free parking at both locations along with beautiful flowers everywhere! One hour onsite sessions like Maia's are just $199 without hair and makeup. This includes 5 fully edited images, and additional session edits are just $15 each. Ordering ala carte items is quick and easy from your personalized website and sharable mobile APP. Sharing your images online is just as easy with your custom APP, just click and share!

I had a lot of flowers hanging around... and had been meaning to do a collaboration with Katherine for her blog for awhile. She is the perfect boho gal for some hand made, custom, real floral crowns and headdresses. I normally wouldn't condone placing a headdress or other ethnic, traditional clothing or accessory item on someone NOT of that culture, and to clarify I did not do that here. Katherine has native roots and it is part of her heritage. I wanted to honor both of her ethnicities and cultures by creating for her a headdress that gives more of an Art Nouveau feel and look to it to ensure that the final composition is timeless and not a parody of her Native American heritage. All clothing items I used for this shoot I paid less than $10 for.... and were acquired via ebay. That includes the Pharaoh swim suit, the tie dye dress, and the star harness. The makeup was a collaboration between Katherine and myself and I created the floral crowns and headdress from "left over" wedding floral that was given to me after a wedding I had worked. The floral was going to be tossed and I asked if I could reuse it. It's important to remember that there are lots of things that will allow for creative and beautiful photographs at your disposal! You have to be open to reusing items! This headdress to honor Katherine's heritage was created out of one 6' long feather "chain" from Amazon ($11) that I've used several times in photoshoots before. Mostly I've used it for a neck piece, as I've said before I cannot ethically create a headdress unless it's ethnically applicable out of respect and consideration for the Native American culture. The beaded piece of this headdress is an 80's belt that I had thrifted about a year ago for $4. The side floral I'm sorry, but I don't know what kind of plant this is but was part of the arrangements I reused from a previous wedding. I hope you enjoy these images and they inspire you to create some beautiful outdoor boho looks for your own photoshoot! This session would be considered a 2 hour onsite session with travel. I worked with Elle Halls of Nouvelle Design Studio for my business profile picture (used for LinkedIn, email, website, business cards, etc.) and she was amazing! She really listened to what I wanted, and made me a part of the process, stopping many times throughout the shoot to show me how the photos were looking. What I thought was going to be a "business errand/chore" ended up being a lot of fun! I highly recommend using Elle for your photography project. Excellent experience. Elle was able to coach out the "model" in me and provided many shots I can pick from. She went well above and beyond me expectations and the final product is excellent. |
Working with Elle was wonderful! I was doing a fashion shoot and it was so fun! She's very nice, funny, and professional, the shoot went like that! She has a very keen eye and did wonderful work! Very happy with my photos. Thanks, Elle! I love the photos of myself and my daughter. We were given excellent direction so we could get the best shots. I couldn't be happier with the results! I highly recommend booking a session for any type of photography you are looking for! |
